    Sleep Paralysis

    Started by Kerrang| 22255 posts

    I know this has been posted before in the past, but does anyone else suffer from this ?

    It's been happening to me alot of late, and It is begin to worry me a bit. Basically I wake up mid dream, unable to move my body, having hallucinations and litterally screaming the house down. . I had one last night, and I was convinced that someone was pushing me out of my bed.  Another night when this happened. I was convinced I saw someone's hand behind my back. It really freaked me out, and when I fully woke up, I was in a right state.

    I've been reading up about it online and some of the possible causes are as follows;

    • Sleeping in a face upwards or supine position
    • Increased stress
    • Sudden environmental/lifestyle changes
    • A lucid dream that immediately precedes the episode.
    • Excessive consumption of alcohol coupled with lack of adequate sleep.[

    So does anyone have any stories to share on this ?

    One of my cousins experienced similar episodes. He was convinced that he and/or his bedroom was possessed by a spirit. Not to worry you or anything.

    On the bright side, he seems to be fine now - it just stopped happening after a while....especially after he moved to a new house! {#Insert smilie}

    i go through bouts of this. i could have it every night for a week and then not have it again for 6 months. it is an absolutely terrifying experience. i usually feel a crushing weight on my chest and try to scream but can't. one time i woke up after a particular horrifying one covered in sweat and my chest all bruised.

    i don't really try to think too much about it as if freaks me out.

    I have recently moved house, so I think that might have brought it on. I have had a pretty stressful year, so that might be a factor in it also.  I generally sleep quite well. but these episodes terrify me. They seem to happen every once in a while, and I hope they would stop.

    I had my poor ex boyfriend driven demented with them. I would wake him up with my screams and he would to have to calm me down.

    Thats what I have been thinking. They seem to be more frequent of late, which is why I am worried about it.

    Clearly the new house is built on an Indian Burial ground and evil spirits are trying to possess you each night with varying degrees of success. I suggest sleeping with garlic and a crucifix {#Insert smilie}

    I had this before...

    It turned out to be a succubus, see if you can find someone with second sight to verify the diagnosis, and I'd suggest burning a still beating human heart in a brass (brass, mind) brazier in the centre of the bed. There's a kit you can buy.
